A legend to Remember

Picture reveals a history

Gasa, Trashi Thomoen Dzong, well known of the earliest living legend of Drukpa Family in Bhutan, lies to the extreme north. The District has in itself a wide range of vegetation from a mixture of broad leaved deciduous to alpine shrubs and medicinal herbs.

People in Gasa, during the early-seventeenth century, especially the family of Hobtsho, were the first to invite and welcome Zhabdrung Rinpoche, "father of Choesid Nyedhen Ghi Gyalkap". This followed several invasions by the Tibetans, as the Drukpa in Bhutan and growing popularity of Zhabdrung Rinpoche, remained the greatest fear of Tsang Desi. It was during this long period of raid and war that safety and survival was a concern for the people and national sovereignty and independence was a priority for our great leaders.

The picture above is to portray the skill and broader dimension of our forefathers, out of many, during internal and external turmoil. It shows how people during wars and conflicts, used to fetch their water from a near by gorges. A magnificent water pool can be also seen in Bumthang, Jakar. The above picture is also such kind that one finds in Gasa. Not even a kilometer was a span of the trench to reach the water at the gorge.

Today the Dzongkhag administration took a noble initiative to preserve the site for good intention. Such places can reach out a wide range of audience, nationalist to appreciate and foreigners to adore. SO, I guess there are a lot to know about my country.....More share next time!

GOOD DAY
